Gorgeous Lacey is a sable and white Sheltie with tipped ears. Lacey enjoys attention from those she trusts, and will indicate that she wants you to continue to pet her. Because she did not experience much affection previously, she is initially cautious with people. Lacey is making great progressin her foster home, exploring more and more, and LOVES the toys that make animal sounds! Age/Sex: 8 years, female Height: 16", Her adopter will need to measure her food, feed her at scheduled feeding times, limit treats and provide plenty of exercise to keep her at her now healthier weight. Temperament: Shy, but very sweet, likes attention from people and will move toward you to continue the petting. She now greets foster mom with a wagging tail, and enjoys gentle petting. Fence Required: Yes, flight risk high due to Lacey's previous inexperience in a pet home environment. Gets Along with Dogs: Lacey would do well in a home with a canine companion, as she gets along well with other dogs and enjoys playing with them. Gets Along with Cats: Unknown, but likely o.k., as temperament is sweet and unassertive. OK to Place with Kids: Unknown, but should not go to a home with young kids due to her shyness. May do o.k. with calm, gentle children who are older. Housetrained: Lacey is working on housetraining. Her adopter will need to provide a routine of scheduled potty times and limited freedom to help Lacey be successful. Lacey still uses potty pads at times. Crate Trained: Yes-she's big on her "safe spots"! Obedience Training: None so far. Leash Manners: Recently introduced in her foster home, and she is adjusting well to walking on a leash! Activity Level: Moderate, playful with other dogs and with toys. Level of Barking: She's on the quiet side for a Sheltie! She only barks when welcoming foster mom home from work. Health Issues: No known health issues. Experienced Home: Yes, or with a home that has previously owned or cared for a shy, unsocialized dog. A comfy couch would be a big plus, as Ms. Lacey's "safe spot" is the couch! Lacey was very easy to manage for her "day of beauty" (brushing & bath). She is a very gentle spirit, with a loving personality that she would love to share with someone she trusts. Lacey is a very easy dog to care for, is not demanding, and is grateful for kindness. Lacey's adoption fee is $200.00, and she is spayed, current on vaccinations, heartworm tested, on heartworm preventative (during heartworm season), had a dental cleaning, is microchipped, has been bathed and brushed, etc. All of our dogs are indoor dogs and are not to be left outside unattended (not even in a fenced yard, if the adopter is not at home).
