Belgian Shepherd Malinois - Large - Adult - Male - Dog - Cedar
* { font:inherit; } Thank you to those of you who participated in GiveMN.org's matched funds day! I'm Cedar!I had a bit of a rough start to life. You see, I was born without any hip sockets...that's right-those things you need to run and jump and play like a dog should! MARS found out about this and has taken on the bill for two intensive surgeries to fix my little problem, as I am just too beautiful to put to sleep (if I do say so myself!)!!I am fully healed and recovered- thanks to the loving care and patience of my wonderful and devoted foster mommy- and am now ready to go to my forever home! She has taught me how to sit, stay, lay down, and retrieve. I am also kennel trained, and am SO smart that when my foster mom goes into the shower to get ready for work, I kennel myself anticipating her departure! Anyone who is an avid shepherd-lover knows this is not extremely uncommon as I am a VERY smart boy...true to my breed. My foster mom tells people I am a HUGE clown...very much a goofball. For example, I LOVE the water hose, and I literally go wild when you bring out the flashlight so I can chase it on the floor. And- get this- I LOVE to 'herd' my toys into various places in the house. One time my mom left the toilet seat lid up and I put my toys in the toilet bowl. Another time I put my toys in the boxes she had out for moving. One time we were going to go up North for a weekend and the night before we left I put my favorite stuffed animal in my foster mom's purse!! I didn't want her to forget one of the toys, which I adore so much!Right now I am used to getting two long walks per day but I would love to find someone who is able to take me rollerblading or biking everyday, as I have a LOT of energy. Additionally I would love to do a fun agility class or continue in my obedience levels and learn more. See, the thing about Shepherds is we are so smart that we not only need physical exercise but also mental exercise. If we don't get it, we get restless...and that's when the 'bad' behaviors start. And I really want to be a good boy for you! With the amount of exercise I currently get I am fine home alone for my mom's eight hour shifts...her neighbors say I never ever bark.In terms of how compatible I am with others...I am good with other dogs as long as they are not dominant. Cats, on the other hand...well, lets just say they look too similar to my stuffed animals! I have done okay with kids but because I tend to have a nervous energy, their sudden movements sometimes catch me off guard. So, I would prefer to live only with high school age people or older, as they are old enough to understand my needs! My one and only requirement for a future home will be previous experience with German Shephers, only because I am so very stereotypical of my breed. I am a loving, fun, intelligent dog (true to GSD's) but I am anxious and stong-willed. If you are an avid GSD lover, I am literally the perfect dog for you! Please fill out an application below so you can meet me to see if I'm the perfect guy for you!
